Counselling
I am a fully qualified and insured integrative counsellor, a modality that believes there isn’t just one therapeutic approach that can help a client in all situations. Instead, they take into account you as an individual and your circumstances, and use elements of different approaches to help you explore and cope with your problems.
This means I can draw upon different therapeutic approaches to suit your needs such as:
Person centred counselling focuses on you being the expert on yourself, and aiming for you to reach your full potential through accepting and valuing you, being honest and transparent with you and offering you unconditional positive regard.
Gestalt Therapy focuses on self-awareness: on what is happening from one moment to the next or, in the Here and Now. Increased awareness and understanding of the present, of one’s immediate thoughts, feelings and behaviour, and of patterns of relating can bring about powerful change and new perspectives.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) focuses on your thoughts feelings and behaviours, helping to change any negative or unhelpful versions of these.
Mindfulness is awareness of one's internal states and surroundings. Mindfulness can help people avoid destructive or automatic habits and responses by learning to observe their thoughts, emotions, and other present-moment experiences without judging or reacting to them.
Psychodynamic therapy involves helping you to bring your subconscious - what is just below the surface of your awareness - into your conscious mind. It helps you become more aware of what’s in your subconscious, such as difficult memories and experiences, so you can understand how these deep-rooted feelings impact on you in the present and how you can learn to cope with them.
Sessions can be short term or long term and last 50 mins at a cost of £50
Relational Transactional Analysis (TA) Psychotherapy
I have been training as a TA relational psychotherapist over the last 4 years. I am a trainee Psychotherapist until completion (a process that takes approximately 5 years).
Transactional analysis is a comprehensive approach which incorporates aspects of humanistic, cognitive-behavioural and psychodynamic therapy. It categorises the human personality into three states – Parent, Adult and Child – which can help you understand how you interact with others.
I look at how your beliefs and the way you interpret the world around you can create recurrent and problematic patterns of behaviour, and will work with you to help you to change.
Relational TA is interested in those processes and methodologies that appreciate, contextualise, and seek to understand and engage with the language and power of the non conscious and the unconscious, as well as that of the conscious world. Within this, relational TA practitioners can and do come from any and all approaches within TA. Relational TA represents and reflects different traditions and practice with regard to working with clients, with roots in psychodynamic, object relations, and humanistic thinking.
I work mainly with clients who need long term psychotherapeutic support. Sessions are 50 mins and cost £50.
I have a full clear DBS, and qualifications in Safeguarding. I have gained an advanced specialist Level 5 qualification in working therapeutically with Young people. I draw upon an integrative and creative approach and adapt a variety of modalities to suit each individual needs.
I have experience working in the NHS as a Psychological therapist working with children and young people who have experienced Sexual Assault and Abuse and have trained in Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT), an evidence based model that has been proven to be effective in treating symptoms of PTSD.
Sessions are 50 mins and cost £55
